ridin'

Our new house is on a perfect little cul-de-sac, so Cole has been a bike-riding fool:

Cole usually refers to his balance bike as his "motorcycle".  He'll also usually tell me that he's "GOING TO WORK, MAMA! COLE GOING TO DADDY'S WORK! BRING KEYS AND CELL PHONE!"

Beating the Heat

Urgh...it's been so bloody hot around here.  I can't stand it.  I hate the heat, even more so now that I have an active little three year old who pretty much HAS to have outside time to survive - the heat does not make that easy!  So we've been escaping the heat in any way we can, and a few weeks ago we met Grammy and Papa up at the lake to cool off:

 Cole is 100% water baby:

And is so persistent learning how to swim!
Chris brought some horseshoes to play - Cole thought it was awesome!  He was a perfect little helper.

Glad we have a place to escape from the heat!

Hot Air Balloons!

Yet another reason why I love our town...a couple weekends ago, we spied some hot air balloons in the sky above our house:

We ran out in our PJ's to get a better look!

So much excitement! :)

Seaside Day 3

On Saturday, we met up with Chris' fantastic cousin Wendy and her family and all caravanned to Cannon Beach and the breathtaking Haystack Rock.  The weather was perfect, the water was freezing, but the company was my favorite part!

We had some football games going on...of course my hubby brought a football!  Bailey was showing off some mad skills:

Wendy and sweet Nadia:
I'm so glad Chris is the adventurous type - leaves me with a great excuse to stay on the warm sand and take photographs!

Wendy's husband Charlie and Acalayne, who is only a few months younger than Cole!

Oh my... this might have been one of my favorite moments of the day.  Cole just adores babies and is so sweet around them - Nadia was no exception.  Every once in a while he'd take a break from the ocean and the sand and sit next to her, gently "petting" her and giving her the sweetest hugs.
And he oh so patiently allowed her to explore his face!  Such a sweet, loving boy I have.

So much fun playing with cousins!

 The beautiful family:

Chris was so proud that Cole was showing off some football skills too:

When we came back to the hotel, we wrapped up the day with s'mores around a campfire!

Whew...just looking at the pictures of all those sweet little kids running around makes me tired!  I think the formula for good sleep is a beach!
