Momentous Occasion

Chris has been trying for weeks to catch the baby at just the right time to feel him move. Baby boy has been kicking, somersaulting, headstanding, punching, and flipping up a storm in my belly, but it's always been at just the right time or not quite strong enough for Chris to feel. So last night we are sitting here, and Baby does a flip, so I take Chris' hand and put it right on the top of belly. We sit in silence for a minute, and I think that maybe he's gone back to sleep, when he lets out with the biggest punch/kick I've felt yet...right where Chris' hand was! It was like he was saying, "Hi Daddy!!! I'm right here!! Can you feel me?" I watched as Chris' eyes lit up and he said that he felt it! It's so amazing that this little guy is growing so strong that he can already start beating up his daddy! Chris is so proud of his son and everything is starting to feel more and more real...we're really going to be parents!!

Football Sunday = Sewing Sunday!

Since yesterday was football playoffs, Chris spent the majority of the day glued to the TV, so I spent the majority of the day glued to my sewing machine!! I've been feeling such an urge to start getting things ready for Baby - I guess you can call it early nesting. So I got a couple of projects done yesterday.

Have you seen these around? They're called PeePee TeePees in the stores - you put them over a certain dangerous area when changing a little boys' diaper to protect yourself from spray. Of course, completely frivolous and not really necessary, but cute and fun!

Also whipped up another one of these burp clothes. I've got about a dozen of these, ready for any number of baby spit up accidents.

My favorite: a taggie blanket. I know that babies often like to play with tags on a blanket and I just happened to have a whole box full of adorable ribbon. The backing on this blanket is some super soft minky... maybe I should make one for me too!

Can you tell what my colors are going to be for the baby? Just a hint, you all may want to start buying stock in brown thread. I don't think I've ever gone through so much brown thread!!! :)

And my belly was just so big and cute yesterday, I had to take a picture. Getting bigger!!! I love it!!! And Baby is moving and grooving all over the place! How amazing!

Drumroll, Please!

IT'S A BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yup, there's no doubt about it... the tech literally had the ultrasound tool thingy on my belly for less than 2 seconds before she was like, Oh yeah, it's a boy! We are thrilled and just couldn't be happier. Of course, we would have been thrilled with either!

I had to take pictures of the pictures, so they aren't super clear, but here's a couple ultrasound pics. Our little guy is sure going to be a classic active boy! It was hard to get some measurements because he was squirming and swimming around in there so much. Amazing!

Here he is showing off his muscles - view from the top of his head, looking down at his arm.

These 3D ones are just amazing!

Yup, can't wait to meet this little guy in person!!! What an adventure we're in for!!!

Baby Update!!

So, I am now 20 weeks. 20 weeks people!!!! That is halfway!!! I am halfway through my pregnancy!!!! (I don't think I had enough exclamation points in that sentence!!) The best part so far? Feeling little peanut squirming and rolling around in there - wow! It feels like teeny little muscle spasms in there. I'm still wrapping my mind over the fact that there is a PERSON inside of me... it's so alien!!

Had some pretty strange cravings yesterday - all morning, I was totally craving grape cough syrup. I know, weird, right? Don't worry, I didn't have any, but it sure sounded delish!!! Maybe I should pick up some grape popsicles today. On our way home from the doctor's office, I just HAD to have a Whopper Jr. from Burger King. Healthy and nutritious!!! And then right before bed, I really wanted some Cinnamon Toast Crunch...mmm...that one still sounds good. Yeah, ok, so I have a sweet tooth...

So it dawned on me this morning that I am halfway through this pregnancy!! HALFWAY!!! That's 50%! And holy cow, I still have a ton to do. Fortunately, the basics are covered - we've got a crib and mattress and lots of baby clothes. Still missing a couple minor details like diapers and bottles, but that's ok. We'll get there! And we've got a whole summer of yard saleing right after the baby's born. T-minus 20 weeks!!!

CHRISTMAS!!!!!

I hope everyone had as wonderful a Christmas as we did!!! Our holiday couldn't have been better. Mom and Dad and their two dogs, Libby and Ginger, came up from SoCal for two weeks to celebrate with us - tons of eating, opening presents, eating, baking, playing with the dogs (FOUR dogs in this little house!! It was so fun!), eating, and shopping. Scott and Mary Lynn (Chris' parents) drove over from Klamath to join us for Christmas Day dinner, so we had the whole family together.

The dogs all got presents from Santa, too!

Some of my favorite gifts: A KitchenAid Mixer!!!! I've wanted one since we were married, and thanks to an awesome Black Friday deal, Mom and Dad got us one! It sure got a lot of use with all the baking and cooking we were doing! I was also thrilled and very surprised to get the Willow Tree Nativity from Scott and Mary Lynn!!! I collect nativities and this is one I've wanted for quite some time, but it was a spurlge I could never justify! Mary is always my favorite part of any nativity, and I especially love how she is holding the Baby Jesus - just how I always pictured it!

Of course, I also loved anything we received for the baby. And you can bet this baby's going to be a football fan!! Loved this onesie set for the Steelers, from my aunt, uncle, and cousins in Pennsylvania.

And of course, Mom and I had the BEST time baby shopping!!! Just a couple of the things we found...

I heart these Robeez shoes. I can never have enough. Wish they made them in my size, especially with these colors and the adorable elephants. I am a total sucker for sweaters on little boys. This one, I'm thinking might be perfect for Christmas next year! What do you think? And, a quick update on Nala's injuries:

Everything's looking great and she even got her stitches (24 of them!) out yesterday. What a trooper!

I hope everyone had as blessed a holiday as we did! Happy New Year, and here's to 2010 being the best year ever!! (I know it will be for us!)
